What to look out for when buying a new TVBuying a new TV is great fun, there are loads to choose from and if you are stuck with a small old set you hate, or even worse, a bulky CRT old set… then getting a lovely big slim TV is a great way to transform your living room (or your bedroom but I don't recommend watching TV in bed or it'll affect your ability to sleep). Yet there are a few things you need to consider to make sure that you don't end up with a dud TV that you are going to regret buying later on, here are the top areas you need to watch out for when buying your next TV: Size: Where TVs are concerned then size matters! But don't forget to check how much room you have where you want to put it, if you have a cabinet for it to go in and then you suddenly find a huge discount on a hot 55 inch TV… then you might end up buying something on impulse which is not going to fit where you wanted it. Also think about how far away from the TV you are going to be, if you are only say 4ft away from the TV then you probably only need a 32 inch one, if you are 6ft away then you can get a 42 inch one and if you are 8ft away then you can get whatever size you want! Motion response time: This is how the TV reacts to fast paced action on the screen, if you have a slow motion response time then it is going to be juddery and spoil the experience. Ideally you want around a 6ms response time or lower, lots of the lower end LCDs have 8ms which is ok, but you can find others for the same price with 6, so shop around, and I saw a higher end LG TV the other day with a 2.7ms response time! This is also important for games don't forget, so if you play on your xbox 360 a lot then make sure you get a good motion response time. Speakers: Don't forget about the sound! If you have extra speakers hooked up to your TV then ignore this section, but if you don't then don't forget to check out the speakers that the TV has. This is one area that isn't usually boasted about in the manufacturers blurb, so you'll need to search and find it out because there is no point in having a great picture if the sound is too low and all tinny and weird (get a set with a minimum of a 20W output and with some sort of simulated surround sound too). Those tips should help you choose a TV you'll fall in love with - enjoy!
